For the longest time I was only interested in the Choose Your Own Adventure series. Only recently did I begin to branch out and discover others. I suggest you check out Demian’s Gamebook Web Page. It’s a comprehensive gamebook database with pages devoted to every series imaginable and individual books as well! As for me, the only other series I can recommend personally at this point is Endless Quest.

I get mine on Amazon, where many of the old books are as little as $0.01 each (plus shipping). I’ve also borrowed a few on inter-library loan, which is great, so long as you don’t mind returning them two weeks later.
